The death figure was higher than the U.S. estimate.
Mohammed Bahr al-Ulloum spoke at a press conference after the near-simultaneous bombings Tuesday at the capital's Kazimiya shrine and holy sites in Karbala.
U.S. officials lowered their death toll Wednesday to 117 from 143, released late Tuesday.
It was impossible to immediately reconcile the discrepancy."
